Originally developed in North America during the 1990s, this premium formula offers a modern alternative to traditional lime finishes. Furthermore, it delivers superior flexibility, exceptional adhesion, freeze-thaw stability, and unlimited custom coloring.
Today, Texturline covers millions of square feet across global hotel chains, restaurants, airports, and luxury residences. Consequently, it stands as the industry benchmark for artists, contractors, and interior designers seeking a seamless, highly versatile wall solution.
Why Choose Acrylic Venetian Plaster Over Lime?
While traditional lime plasters break down when exposed to freezing temperatures, Protek’s acrylic formulation incorporates an eco-friendly, zero-VOC stabilizer. As a result, this material remains completely freeze-thaw stable during transit and storage. Consequently, suppliers can ship year-round anywhere in the world without losing material integrity.

Sample Techniques & Finish Examples
These real-world application methods demonstrate how combining different tools, waxes, and glazes over our acrylic Venetian plaster produces distinct decorative effects:
-
Luminous Pearl Smooth Finish: Apply two coats of a simple grey base using a blade. Next, backfill the surface with Pearl Texturtop Wax to create a smooth, washable, pearlescent shimmer.
-
Textured Stone & Antique Wash: Apply two coats of a red base. Press plastic film into the wet plaster and release it to create texture. Once dry, wash with Black Stonewash Pigment and seal with Texturtop Satin Wax.
-
Verdigris Copper Patina: Roll on a black basecoat, then apply two coats of Copper Texturtop. Finally, rub Verdigris Cottage Paint into the recessed areas. No sealer is required.
-
Classic Burnished Beige Stone: Apply two coats of beige plaster using a stainless-steel trowel. Burnish the surface, seal with Burnishing Wax, and polish to bring out depth.
-
Deep Metallic Shadow Effect: Trowel a textured black basecoat, cover it with Silver Texturtop, and wash a Black Glaze into the low spots for high-contrast dimension.
-
Ultra-High Gloss Mirror Finish: Apply a black basecoat followed by three coats of Reflecta Plaster. Burnish the surface, seal with Burnishing Wax, and polish with an orbital sander using a 4000-grit pad.
Storage & Freeze-Thaw Stability
-
Unopened Container: Shelf life is up to 3 years.
-
Opened Container: Cover the exposed plaster with plastic film or a thin layer of water to preserve usability for up to 3 years.
-
Freeze-Thaw Handling: If frozen, simply leave the material indoors at room temperature for 24 hours. Afterward, stir and apply as usual.
Substrates & Surface Preparation
Texturline bonds securely to properly prepared drywall, wood, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), and plywood.
-
Priming: Always prime surfaces first with Texturline aggregated primers (such as Texprime or Sharktooth) to ensure uniform suction and maximum adhesion.
-
No Pre-Sealing Needed: Because this system is 100% acrylic, glazes and powdered pigment washes can be applied directly onto the plaster without pre-sealing.
Application Methods & Pro Tips
Apply Texturline plaster using a stainless-steel trowel, spatula, roller, sponge, or texture gun. Additionally, you can extrude the material, trowel it into high-relief designs, or work through stencils.
💡 Anti-Cracking Pro Tip: Very thick, heavy-relief applications may develop mud-cracking. To prevent cracking in deep textures, simply mix short nylon reinforcing fibers directly into the plaster.
Protective Topcoats & Wax Selection
Select the ideal topcoat depending on traffic, moisture exposure, and desired sheen:
1. Protective Waxes
-
Delicate / Dry Areas: Texturline Flat Wax.
-
Bathrooms & Kitchens: Texturline Burnishing Wax (for extra moisture resistance and washability).
-
Metallic Shimmers: Satin Wax incorporating mica, or pre-mixed Pearl/Metallic Waxes.
2. Zero Gloss Varnish (Dead-Flat Stone Finish)
-
1 Coat: Yields an authentic, dead-flat natural stone look.
-
2 Coats: Creates a subtle, protective low sheen.
-
Application Tip: Avoid cutting in edges with a brush to prevent “picture framing.” Instead, mask the edges and roll with a mini-foam Wiz roller.
